# Virals: West Ham set to miss out on Junior Firpo to EPL rivals

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/29/virals-west-ham-target-nikola-milenkovic-available-for-8-5m/) look set to miss out on the capture of Barcelona full-back [Junior Firpo](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/24/virals-west-ham-make-offer-for-barcelona-full-back-junior-firpo/) this summer.

Perennially linked with the Hammers, it emerged yesterday that Premier League rivals Leeds United were in fact [close to agreeing on a deal](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-junior-firpo-bielsa-20924033) to sign the 24-year-old marauding ace.

Despite the interest from east London, David Moyes seemingly never came close to land the left-back, with Serie A giants AC Milan previously [standing in the way](https://www.football-espana.net/2021/06/13/ac-milan-reach-transfer-compromise-with-barcelona-over-junior-firpo).

Now, according to a report from [Sport](https://www.sport.es/en/news/barca/junior-firpo-set-to-join-leeds-from-barcelona-in-15-million-deal-11862961) and as cited by [Transferchanger](https://twitter.com/TransferChanger/status/1409478887197839361) on Twitter, the [Spanish youth international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/nationalmannschaft/spieler/374139/verein_id/15232) is expected to arrive at Elland Road.

The report claims that the Yorkshire club will pay in the region of £12.8million for the [ex-Real Betis man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/transfers/spieler/374139).

Despite being somewhat outcast at the Camp Nou, Firpo still managed [18 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/374139) last term – including six in the UEFA Champions League.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

It seems as though Moyes will have to look elsewhere for competition and cover for the evergreen Aaron Cresswell.

As for Firpo, there will be a sense of missing out at the London Stadium, especially given the Dominican Republic born ace’s [impressive versatility](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/374139).
