# Virals: West Ham see £10.3m Attila Szalai bid rejected

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/27/virals-west-ham-target-jesse-lingard-set-to-be-offered-new-contract/) have reportedly seen a £10.3million bid for Fenerbahce defender [Attila Szalai](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/11/virals-west-ham-to-closely-follow-attila-szalai-at-euro-2020/) rejected in the last week.

The Hammers’ offer was turned down as the [Turkish giants](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fenerbahce-istanbul/erfolge/verein/36) are believed to be hoping for a fee in the region of £17.2million for their 23-year-old star.

This comes as Irons’ boss David Moyes attempts to bolster the [central defensive options](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) at the London Stadium ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

According to the report from [Enson Haber](https://www.ensonhaber.com/kralspor/transfer-dosyasi/west-hamdan-szalai-icin-12-milyon-euro), as cited by [WHUNewz – West Ham News](https://twitter.com/WestHamUtdNewz) on Twitter, the Hungarian is among the targets.

Szalai played [every minute](https://www.sofascore.com/player/attila-szalai/823092) in Group F at Euro 2020 for Hungary, facing up against France, Germany and Portugal as the nation performed admirably.

During 2020/21, the [16-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/attila-szalai/nationalmannschaft/spieler/263380/verein_id/3468) ace made 41 appearances across all competitions – earning an average [Sofascore rating of 7.11](https://www.sofascore.com/player/attila-szalai/823092) in 21 Super Lig outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £6.3million and under contract until 2025 in Turkey ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/attila-szalai/marktwertverlauf/spieler/263380)), the valuation of the Hungarian ace is relative in terms of recent developments.

Signing a centre-back has [certainly become a priority](https://www.givemesport.com/1697729-west-ham-transfer-rumours-hammers-plan-to-upgrade-in-one-specific-position-this-summer) for Moyes this summer and Szalai ticks plenty of boxes for the Hammers.

Capable of playing both centrally and at [left-back](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317508/Show/Attila-Szalai), the Hungarian could provide additional cover in the squad.
