# Virals: West Ham make offer for Barcelona full-back Junior Firpo

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/24/virals-west-ham-in-straight-battle-for-paul-onuachu/) are believed to have made an initial offer for Barcelona left-back [Junior Firpo](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/12/virals-west-ham-hold-major-advantage-in-junior-firpo-pursuit/).

The Hammers have been [long since touted as admirers](https://talksport.com/football/818640/west-ham-loan-deal-barcelona-defender-junior-firpo-napoli/) of the left-back and David Moyes could make the 24-year-old a priority signing this summer.

However, there is competition from Italian giants AC Milan for the signature and there is a fear Firpo may [prefer the idea](https://www.football365.com/news/barcelona-man-prefers-serie-a-switch-amid-west-ham-southampton-links) of a switch to the San Siro.

This is according to a report from [Mundo Deportivo (print edition, June 24th, page 18)](https://www.pressreader.com/spain/mundo-deportivo/20210624), as cited by [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1408000870952882177) on Twitter.

The report claims Milan are keen on a [loan move with an option to buy](https://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2021/06/13/60c5faaa46163f93a18b461a.html) whilst the Irons are capable of signing the ace on a permanent basis – a deal preferred by the Catalan club.

During 2020/21, Firpo made just [18 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/374139) for Barcelona across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £7.2million and under contract until 2024 in Spain ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/374139)), it has previously been [reported](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/lazio-roma-e-napoli-il-barcellona-fa-il-prezzo-per-firpo-62842) that the [Spanish youth international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/nationalmannschaft/spieler/374139/verein_id/15232) will be available for around £13million this summer.

Despite boasting the evergreen Aaron Cresswell, starlet Ben Johnson and the versatile Arthur Masuaku as [options at the London Stadium](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad), Moyes has been desperate to bolster the left side of the defence.

Capable of playing on [either side as a full-back or wing-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/374139) and in central positions, Firpo is a viable option to strengthen numerous areas.

Landing the ace ahead of a club like AC Milan would also be a strong indication of the gravitas currently held in east London.
