# Virals: West Ham linked with Boavista forward Alberth Elis

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/14/virals-west-ham-lead-the-face-for-adam-armstrong-signing/) have reportedly begun discussions over the potential transfer of Boavista forward [Alberth Elis](https://readceltic.com/2020/07/09/alberth-elis-confirms-his-interest-in-a-move-to-celtic/) this summer.

Irons manager David Moyes is desperate to bolster the attacking options at the London Stadium having allowed [Sebastien Haller to leave](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss) in January.

The Ivorian’s departure left the Hammers heavily reliant on Michail Antonio’s continued fitness – only to lose the powerful frontman to a [recurring injury](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/april/30-april/team-news-david-moyes-gives-michail-antonio-update) issue.

Despite the issues, Moyes’ side rallied and [finished the season in sixth](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), thus ensuring Europa League football for next term.

With that comes further demands on the squad and according to a report from Portuguese outlet [A Bola](https://abola.pt/) (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-and-southampton-initiated-talks-to-sign-player-club-requested-e10m-for-summer-sale/)) and as cited by [Carol Rudall](https://twitter.com/CarolRadull/status/1404280614245777408) on Twitter, Elis could fit the bill.

The report claims the [42-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberth-elis/nationalmannschaft/spieler/281319/verein_id/3590) Honduras international is ‘likely to leave’ this summer for around £8.5million as interest also comes from Brighton and Watford.

Previously [linked](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alberth-elis-admits-celtic-talks-22327382) with a Celtic switch, compatriot and former Hoops defender Emilio Izaguirre [described](https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/18612720.emilio-izaguirre-reveals-spoken-goal-scoring-winger-alberth-elis-potential-celtic-switch/) the frontman as ‘very fast and strong’ when described the ace’s attributes.

During 2020/21, Elis scored [eight times and registered seven assists](https://readwestham.com/Brighton%20&%20Hove%20Albion%20and%20Watford) in 31 Liga NOS outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Predominantly operating as a centre-forward last term, the Honduran is [capable of playing on either wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberth-elis/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/281319) and would add extra versatility to Moyes’ ranks.

Valued at £3.6million and under contract until 2024 in Porto ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberth-elis/marktwertverlauf/spieler/281319)), the mooted £8.5million asking price is a reasonable demand for a talented performer.

Formerly of Houston Dynamo, Elis made [63 goal contributions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberth-elis/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/281319) in just 101 appearances for the MLS side.

Signing the [powerful forward](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2tpNbTbXHQ) would be a good option for the Hammers this summer, especially when you take into consideration the versatility – a huge asset to any squad.
