# Virals: West Ham to reignite their interest in signing James Tarkowski

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/12/virals-west-ham-hold-major-advantage-in-junior-firpo-pursuit/) are believed to have registered their interest once again in signing Burnley defender [James Tarkowski](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/16/kevin-phillips-west-ham-deal-agreed-james-tarkowski/) this summer.

The Hammers were seemingly desperate to sign the 29-year-old England international last summer – seeing a third and final bid of £30million [rejected](https://talksport.com/football/760981/james-tarkowski-west-ham-third-final-bid-burnley-rejected/).

However, David Moyes remains on the lookout for a top-quality centre back to add to the [ranks at the London Stadium](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) and could revive interest at the Lancashire club.

That’s according to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-major-update-on-west-ham-bid-to-sign-tarkowski-after-offer/), as cited by [West Ham Fan Zone](https://twitter.com/WHUFCFZ/status/1403830500008075271) on Twitter.

The report claims there is ‘concrete interest’ from the Irons and a deal will be pursued – albeit without wanting to be held to ransom over a fee.

Having staved off interest from both West Ham and Leicester last summer, Tarkowski remained a key figure at Turf Moor – making [39 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/leistungsdaten/spieler/173504) in all competitions whilst earning an average [7.06 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/james-tarkowski/145188) in 36 Premier League outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing Tarkowski would certainly represent a statement piece of business from the Hammers.

Undoubtedly a readymade Premier League quality operator, the [twice capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/nationalmannschaft/spieler/173504/verein_id/3299) England man was once [hailed](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/15259045.sean-dyche-hails-outstanding-james-tarkowski-battle-places-burnley-side-hots/) as ‘outstanding’ by manager Sean Dyche.

Moyes is looking to [replace Fabian Balbuena](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/june/04-june/retained-list-issued-fabian-balbuena-depart#:~:text=West%20Ham%20United%20has%20issued,the%20Hammers%2C%20scoring%20three%20goals.) first and foremost whilst also adding top-quality to the department.

Valued at £22.5million and weeks away from entering the final year of a contract ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/marktwertverlauf/spieler/173504)), the Scot may fancy the chances of signing Tarkowski this time around.
