# Virals: David Moyes signs new deal and eyes star English duo

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/10/gabriel-agbonlahor-urges-west-ham-to-sign-chris-wood-this-summer/) manager [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/07/kevin-phillips-believes-david-moyes-will-remain-at-west-ham/) looks set to put an end to speculation surrounding his future by signing a new three-year contract.

The Scot has enjoyed a superb second stint as Hammers boss and guided the club to a 22-year high [sixth-place Premier League finish](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) in 2020/21.

That position [guaranteed Europa League football](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/23-may/west-ham-united-qualify-uefa-europa-league-final-day-win-over#:~:text=Match%20Report-,West%20Ham%20United%20qualify%20for%20UEFA%20Europa,final%2Dday%20win%20over%20Southampton&text=A%20first%2Dhalf%20brace%20from,for%20the%20UEFA%20Europa%20League.) for next season at the London Stadium, however, questions remained as to whether the 58-year-old would remain at the helm.

As speculation mounted when the Everton hot seat became vacant – Moyes a former Toffees boss – a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9674383/David-Moyes-set-sign-new-three-year-deal-West-Ham-turn-advances-Everton.html), as cited by [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1403110963868581888) on Twitter has claimed Moyes is set to remain in east London.

The report also states that Moyes will now look to make Tammy Abraham and [loan sensation](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) Jesse Lingard two permanent arrivals of the summer.

Both England stars have been linked with the Irons in recent months – although the Scottish manager had [played down talks](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12293566/tammy-abraham-david-moyes-says-40m-price-tag-for-chelsea-striker-would-rule-west-ham-out-of-transfer) of what would be a club record £40million swoop for Abraham.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Moyes was arguably the most important signing the club could make this summer.

Having allowed the boss to [leave inauspiciously](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44140002) once before, the hierarchy simply couldn’t let him slip away again after such a positive campaign.

Now the club can focus on transfer dealings – with Lingard and Abraham the ideal starting point.

Whilst the duo would be costly deals, allowing some [fringe players to leave](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/03/26/west-ham-set-to-lose-star-player-after-lingards-emergence-forces-him-into-the-wilderness/) should bolster the budget and free up some wages.
