# West Ham named among suitors for Dutch striker Wout Weghorst

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/09/virals-felipe-anderson-drives-past-brazilian-beach-after-loan-spell/) have been named among a host of clubs interested in signing VfL Wolfsburg striker [Wout Weghorst](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/25/virals-west-ham-interested-in-wolfsburg-striker-wout-weghorst/) this summer.

Credited alongside fellow [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) outfits Newcastle United and Tottenham as keen parties, the Hammers could make an attempt to land the 28-year-old as their new recognised frontman.

David Moyes will be desperate to add a number nine to the ranks ahead of the 2021/22 campaign having [allowed Sebastien Haller to leave](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss#:~:text=West%20Ham's%20need%20for%20a,senior%20forward%20at%20his%20disposal.) in January.

According to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2638584/2021/06/09/the-radar-euro-2020-scouting-guide-in-depth-analysis-of-the-players-your-club-are-watching/), as cited by [Bundesliga France](https://twitter.com/bundesligaenfr/status/1402588009116090368) on Twitter, Weghorst could be a viable option.

The mooted €30million (£25.8million) fee falls almost directly in line with the [six-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/nationalmannschaft/spieler/228645/verein_id/3379) international’s perceived £27million [market value](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/marktwertverlauf/spieler/228645).

Weghorst has established himself as a [proven goalscorer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/228645) in both Holland and Germany – including a fabulous [25 goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/leistungsdaten/spieler/228645) return in 2020/21.

[Described](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/is-wolfsburg-s-wout-weghorst-the-most-underrated-striker-in-europe-14061) as ‘dangerous’ by Wolfsburg boss Olivier Glasner, the 6’4 striker is unsurprisingly [blessed](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115479/Show/Wout-Weghorst) with strong aerial and finishing ability.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Weghorst this summer would certain solve the striking dilemma within Moyes’ [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad).

An out and out frontman, the giant Dutchman would be an [excellent acquisition](https://www.sofascore.com/player/wout-weghorst/252215) for the Irons.

There remains the niggling possibility that for just [£15million more](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/04/28/chelsea-ready-offload-tammy-abraham-40m-club-plot-overhaul-forward/) West Ham could sign Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.
