# West Ham ‘accelerate pursuit’ of Manchester United star Jesse Lingard

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/09/punditry-duo-agree-on-declan-rices-england-role/) are believed to be preparing to ‘accelerate their pursuit’ of Manchester United attacking midfielder [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/07/virals-jesse-lingard-reportedly-decides-on-west-ham-future/) after the ace was cut from the England squad.

The 28-year-old, who spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign with the Hammers, was part of the [provisional 33-man squad](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57239842#:~:text=Women's%20Table-,England%20name%20provisional%20Euro%202020%20squad%3A%20Ben%20White%2C%20Ben%20Godfrey,Ramsdale%20and%20Sam%20Johnstone%20in&text=Uncapped%20Ben%20White%2C%20Ben%20Godfrey,Arnold%20also%20makes%20the%20cut.) and the friendlies ahead of the Euros.

However, with the tournament now just days away Lingard has [been released](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/england-squad-lingard-man-utd-17025903) and could be set to address his future over the coming months.

According to reports from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9666429/West-Ham-pursuit-Manchester-United-star-Jesse-Lingard-not-England.html) and as cited by [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1402535995032154112) on Twitter, the Irons are now preparing to act on the permanent transfer.

Whilst on loan in east London, Lingard scored [nine Premier League goals for the Hammers and registered five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) – earning an average [Sofascore rating of 7.19](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) in 16 league outings.

Previously it has been [mooted](https://www.90min.com/posts/manchester-united-set-asking-jesse-lingard-asking-price) that the Old Trafford club would demand a fee in the region of £30million for the [29-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) England man.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Lingard this summer would unanimously delight the Hammers faithful given the [impact](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/12273193/jesse-lingard-in-scintillating-form-at-west-ham-after-loan-from-man-utd) he had at the London Stadium.

Valued at £19.8million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/141660)), the suggested £30million fee isn’t too far from being a reasonable request – one the Irons would likely look to reduce slightly.

With just [one year remaining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660) on a deal in Manchester, another loan move seems unlikely.
