# Virals: West Ham interested in Sassuolo star Filip Djuricic

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/08/virals-robert-snodgrass-lauds-unbelievable-declan-rice/) have been named as one of the clubs interested in Sassuolo midfielder [Filip Djuricic](https://readswansea.com/2015/08/20/swans-join-premier-league-trio-race-djuricic/).

The 29-year-old is also being lined up by fellow Premier League side Southampton, where the Serbian [spent six months on loan](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-sign-serbian-international-filip-5094940) back in 2015/16.

Since that spell with the Saints, Djuricic has switched from [Portugal to Belgium](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-djuricic/transfers/spieler/94307) before landing in Italy.

Now, according to a report from Italian outlet [Gianluca Di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/calciomercato-news-trattative-oggi-7-giugno-2021), as cited by [Soy Calcio](https://twitter.com/SoyCalcio_/status/1402196203056467968) on Twitter, there is major interest coming from England.

The report and tweet both claim however that the Serbians wish is to remain in Italy – despite only having [12 months remaining on a contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-djuricic/profil/spieler/94307) at the Mapei Stadium.

Djuricic, a [31 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-djuricic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/94307/verein_id/3438) Serbia international, scored [five goals and registered four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-djuricic/leistungsdaten/spieler/94307) in 32 Serie A outings in 2020/21.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Djuricic this summer would be a relatively low-risk deal from the Hammers.

Having already experienced the Premier League, albeit briefly, the adaptation time would be reduced and with a contract running down as well as a [market value of £8.10million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-djuricic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/94307), any deal could be done at a relatively reasonable price.

Whether David Moyes’ [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) is in need of yet more attacking midfielders is another question, although the Serbian could easily be seen as a direct replacement for the [wantaway](https://tntsports.com.ar/ligaprofesional/Sera-el-reemplazante-de-Nicolas-De-La-Cruz-El-ex-River-que-expreso-su-deseo-de-volver-al-plantel-de-Marcelo-Gallardo-es-Manuel-Lanzini-20210602-0007.html) Manuel Lanzini.
