# Fabrizio Romano cools transfer talk over West Ham target Patson Daka

Reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano has shut down the suggestion that [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/07/kevin-phillips-believes-david-moyes-will-remain-at-west-ham/) linked [Patson Daka](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/29/virals-west-ham-favourites-to-sign-patson-daka/) is on the verge of completing a move to Chelsea this summer.

The Red Bull Salzburg striker had appeared to [retweet a post](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEffect/status/1401795944438435843) confirming an imminent switch to Stamford Bridge, leading to speculation both the Hammers and Liverpool were about to miss out on the Zambian.

Recent [reports](https://zambianfootball.co.zm/how-about-the-epl-patson-daka-could-be-heading-to-west-ham/zfadmin/) have claimed the Irons are favourites to sign the 22-year-old – albeit with fierce competition from a host of Premier League rivals.

Flagging up the seemingly telling social media incident to Romano, the Italian was [quick to rebuff](https://twitter.com/CfCprop/status/1401845790411214848) the importance.

> Twitter: @CfCprop it was a fake screenshot, Patson Daka has not retweeted… there’s nothing going on as of today (@FabrizioRomano)

The transfer oracle went on to [explain](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1401846637786447874) that although the player’s account may have reacted to the post, it was not Daka himself and there remains no movement on the transfer front.

Interest in the [22-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/nationalmannschaft/spieler/365172/verein_id/3703) ace is certainly at fever pitch currently after he was [left out](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-patson-daka-transfer-news-20734347) of the Zambia squad to arrange his future following a remarkable [32 goal and 12 assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/leistungsdaten/spieler/365172) laden 2020/21 season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £19.8million and under contract until 2024 in Austria ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/marktwertverlauf/spieler/365172)), West Ham would be pulling off a major coup ahead of their rivals were they to land Daka this summer.

Romano’s assurances will certainly settle any nerves the Hammers faithful may have had that [another London club](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/patson-daka-chelsea-transfer-news-20735290) had won the race.

Labelled the [‘next Thierry Henry’](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-arsenal-told-striker-target-daka-compares-to-premier-league-legend), David Moyes will likely be desperate to have the opportunity to work with the prodigious young talent.
