# Virals: West Ham reportedly in ‘battle’ to sign Alexis Sanchez

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/03/after-90-declan-rice-catches-up-with-marko-arnautovic/) have been sensationally linked with a fair few star names down the years without pulling off the major coup.

This summer transfer window has already provided its first outrageous rumour as Irons’ manager [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/25/glenn-hoddle-believes-david-moyes-deserves-more-credit-for-this-season/) looks to bolster a [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) fit for additional workload from Europa League football.

One position Moyes is likely to prioritise is in the forward areas having allowed [Sebastien Haller to leave the club](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss) in January unreplaced.

Remarkably, a report from Spanish outlet [Estadio Deportivo](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2021/06/01/situan-alexis-sanchez-sevilla-west/339588.html), as cited by [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1400146897504018436) on Twitter, has claimed the Hammers are interested in signing Alexis Sanchez.

The 32-year-old former Arsenal ace is also wanted by La Liga side Sevilla, who are said to be in ‘battle’ with West Ham for the [133-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/40433/verein_id/3700) Chile international.

Under contract [until 2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/profil/spieler/40433) with Inter Milan, the versatile forward, [described](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/744643/Arsenal-Xavi-Alexis-Sanchez-best-in-the-world-news-gossip) as one of the ‘top forwards in Europe’ by Xavi, played a key role as the San Siro giants lifted the [2020/21 Serie A](https://www.skysports.com/serie-a-table) title – scoring [seven times and assisting on seven others](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/40433) in 30 league outings.

There has since been fallout in Milan as manager[Antonio Conte left the club](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12317695/antonio-conte-leaves-inter-milan-by-mutual-consent-with-simone-inzaghi-set-to-replace-him) amid speculation of an exodus on the playing front – citing [struggling finances](https://www.republicworld.com/sports-news/football-news/inter-milan-financial-problems-are-serious-javier-zanetti-on-serie-a-champions-woes.html).

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Albeit a longshot, signing the [£6.75million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/40433) Chilean would be a huge coup for the Irons this summer.

Whilst the all-action, high intensity and compelling displays could be in the rearview mirror, there’s no doubt West Ham would be landing a [high-quality](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/25244/Show/Alexis-S%C3%A1nchez) operator.

Perhaps the biggest worry would be the [astronomical wages](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8601687/Alexis-Sanchez-collected-9MILLION-pay-Man-United-secure-exit-Inter-Milan.html) Sanchez would demand – likely to top any current player within the squad.
