# Virals: West Ham ‘favourites’ to sign Patson Daka

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/28/virals-west-ham-reportedly-target-osasuna-midfielder-jon-moncayola/) are believed to be leading the race to sign highly sought after Red Bull Salzburg striker [Patson Daka](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/23/virals-journalist-duo-confirm-west-ham-interest-in-patson-daka/).

The 22-year-old is being pursued by a host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, [Liverpool](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-linked-patson-daka-after-konate-deal) and of course the Hammers.

However, despite the competition, the Irons are currently at the front of the queue for the man [dubbed](https://diggers.news/goal-diggers/2020/09/07/patson-is-a-talented-boy-kabwe/) the ‘next Thierry Henry’.

That’s according to a report from [Zambia Football](https://zambianfootball.co.zm/how-about-the-epl-patson-daka-could-be-heading-to-west-ham/zfadmin/), as cited by [Westham\_Hub](https://twitter.com/westham_hub/status/1398357463179608071) on Twitter.

Previously a report from [The Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1429243/Arsenal-transfer-news-Alexandre-Lacazette-replacement-Patson-Daka-Red-Bull-Salzburg) mooted a £17million asking price for the [22 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/nationalmannschaft/spieler/365172/verein_id/3703) Zambian international – in line with the star’s perceived £18million market value ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/marktwertverlauf/spieler/365172)).

This season Daka further enhanced his burgeoning reputation with a remarkable [34 goals and 12 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/leistungsdaten/spieler/365172) in just 42 appearances in all competitions – earning an average [Sofascore rating of 7.39](https://www.sofascore.com/player/patson-daka/865057) in 28 Austrian Bundesliga outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Daka this summer given the high levels of interest would be a huge coup for the Hammers.

David Moyes will be desperate to land a striker early in the window in order to [replace Sebastien Haller](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss#:~:text=West%20Ham's%20need%20for%20a,senior%20forward%20at%20his%20disposal.) and have time to work with the new man in pre-season.

Predominantly [operating as a focal point](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/345560/Show/Patson-Daka) in attack, the Zambian’s seeming lack of versatility to play in wide positions could be of benefit to West Ham in the race for Daka’s signature.
