[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/28/virals-west-ham-reportedly-hold-extensive-talks-over-alex-kral-transfer/) are reportedly considering a summer move for Osasuna midfielder Jon Moncayola.

That’s according to a report from Spanish outlet [AS](https://as.com/futbol/2021/05/27/primera/1622115164_278782.html), as cited by [West Ham Extra](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Xtra/status/1397970046526308367) on Twitter.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing an [additional midfielder](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) to supplement Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek must be held alongside a striker arrival at the London Stadium this summer.

David Moyes [relied heavily](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/march/06-march/tomas-soucek-declan-rice-theres-great-balance-between-us) upon the combative duo last term – a reliance that would be stretched given the additional workload brought on by Europa League demands.

Valued at just £2.7m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jon-moncayola/marktwertverlauf/spieler/552425)) and uncapped at senior level, Moncayola may be a rather underwhelming signing, however, as was Soucek and Coufal – both of whom have worked out exceptionally well in east London.

It’s important to bear in mind the first priority this summer must remain a striker arrival – a position that is likely to see an expensive outlay.

Therefore, signing a midfielder for around the £10m mark would leave enough in the coffers for strength in other areas.
