# Virals: West Ham interested in Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/25/virals-west-ham-are-reportedly-interested-in-dor-peretz/) are reportedly interested in signing giant Wolfsburg striker [Wout Weghorst](https://readcrystalpalace.com/2019/11/07/palace-reportedly-scouting-wolfsburgs-wout-weghorst-is-a-move-likely/).

Hammers boss David Moyes is likely to prioritise a forward signing this summer having [sold Sebastien Haller](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/sebastien-haller-ajax-west-ham-transfer-news-b758216.html) back in January.

Linked with a [plethora of options](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/03/23/west-ham-transfer-news-four-striker-targets/) from across Europe and domestically, Weghorst is the latest name to join the list of potential Irons targets.

That’s according to Italian outlet [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/calciomercato-roma-c-e-un-insidia-per-weghorst-34509), as cited by [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1396844415386374150) on Twitter, who claim the east Londoners are keen on the 6’5 ace.

London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea have also been [credited](https://sportwitness.co.uk/striker-considered-chelsea-facing-competition-bundesliga-side/) with admiration in the 28-year-old Dutchman.

This season, the [four-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/nationalmannschaft/spieler/228645/verein_id/3379) Weghorst has scored [25 goals and registered nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/leistungsdaten/spieler/228645) in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Overall, the target man has netted [154 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/228645) across 352 career appearances – leading to Wolfsburg [reportedly](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/fuer-35-mio-england-klubs-jagen-bundesliga-star-71575382,jsRedirectFrom=conversionToLogin,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html#fromWall) demanding between £30-40million for their asset.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Weghorst would certainly add a new dimension to Moyes’ ranks.

Unsurprisingly the Dutch powerhouse is touted for having excellent aerial prowess and finishing ability ([Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115479/Show/Wout-Weghorst)), two attributes that lend themselves ideally to the role required.

Valued at £27million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/marktwertverlauf/spieler/228645)), West Ham wouldn’t be paying over the odds were the mooted £30-40million price tag remain.
