# Virals: West Ham confirm Thierry Nevers signing

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/25/carlton-palmer-believes-tammy-abraham-could-become-a-20-goal-striker/) have seemingly wasted little time in kickstarting their summer transfer activity after securing Europa League football for next season.

The Hammers finished what was a superb 2020/21 campaign on Sunday with a resounding 3-0 victory over Southampton to seal the [sixth spot in the Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) and David Moyes has already been adding to his ranks.

On Tuesday morning the Hammers confirmed the signing of [Thierry Nevers](https://www.infogol.net/en/player/thierry-nevers/49231) from Championship side Reading on a three-year contract.

The 19-year-old forward will officially sign on Wednesday 9 June, ending [nine years in the academy system](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thierry-nevers/transfers/spieler/530952) at the Royals in doing so.

Confirmed by the [club’s official website](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/25-may/west-ham-united-sign-young-forward-thierry-nevers) and as cited by [West Ham United](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1397104663992877062) on Twitter, Nevers will become an Irons ahead of next season.

The teenager is yet to make a first-team bow, instead, scoring [19 times and providing two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thierry-nevers/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/530952) in 65 youth appearances.

This season the versatile Nevers has netted [three goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thierry-nevers/leistungsdaten/spieler/530952) in nine Premier League 2 outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signings are going to be required if West Ham are going to have a [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) ready to compete on all fronts next season.

Whilst the starlet may be some way off a role in Moyes’ first-team plans, additional options could prove to be a blessing and perhaps Nevers could offer some rest to the stars in the domestic cup competitions.
