# Virals: Journalist duo confirm West Ham interest in Patson Daka

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/23/virals-declan-rice-interacts-with-patrick-van-aanholt-on-instagram/) could still be interested in pursuing a summer transfer for Red Bull Salzburg sensation [Patson Daka](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/12/west-ham-fans-excited-patson-daka-transfer-rumours/).

The Hammers have long since been [credited with holding a fondness](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/transfer-news-patson-daka-offered-to-west-ham-united-while-arsenal-liverpool-and-tottenham-remain-keen) in the Zambian forward but were believed to face fierce competition from a number of elite European clubs.

That still rings true as [journalist Ekrem Konur](https://twitter.com/Ekremkonur/status/1396038984418185218) claimed on Twitter that RB Leipzig are chasing the 22-year-old.

However, there remains hope for the Irons as the Turkish reporter added later that David Moyes and co still hold their interest, as confirmed by [Ronan Murphy](https://twitter.com/swearimnotpaul/status/1396046653585510401).

West Ham are certainly in dire need of a striking addition this summer having allowed [Sebastien Haller to leave](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss#:~:text=West%20Ham's%20need%20for%20a,senior%20forward%20at%20his%20disposal.) in January for Ajax.

This season Daka has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence in Austria – scoring [34 goals and registering 12 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/leistungsdaten/spieler/365172) in 42 outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Capped [22 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/nationalmannschaft/spieler/365172/verein_id/3703) by Zambia at senior level, the [£18million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/marktwertverlauf/spieler/365172) striker is already making a burgeoning name for himself despite his fledgeling years.

Despite the continued interest, unfortunately, West Ham could struggle to prize themselves between Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig should there be a desire to get that deal done.

The two clubs have become almost [renowned for transfers](https://khelnow.com/football/five-players-transfers-rb-salzburg-rb-leipzig) with one another, a habit the Hammers would likely have to break the bank in order to halt.

That said, Daka is exactly the [type of player](https://www.sofascore.com/player/patson-daka/865057) Moyes needs in his squad at the London Stadium – making any potential move a priority.
