# Virals: Declan Rice calls for ‘one last push’ from West Ham teammates

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/19/virals-west-ham-make-approach-for-liverpool-ace-alex-oxlade-chamberlain/) took a giant stride towards Europa League football on Wednesday night with a [3-1](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57082274) away victory over West Brom.

The Hammers were forced to do things the hard way after [falling behind](https://www.skysports.com/football/w-brom-vs-west-ham/report/429206) directly from a Matheus Pereira corner – albeit perhaps with a slight touch on the way from Tomas Soucek.

With points hard to come by in recent week, David Moyes might’ve feared [European qualification](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) was slipping away.

But, Soucek levelled the match on the stroke of halftime before [Angelo Ogbonna and Michail Antonio](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/20-may/goals-west-bromwich-albion-1-3-west-ham-united) wrapped matters up late on.

Things [could’ve been far simpler](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaK-t2N-kpo) for the Irons however when [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/07/kevin-phillips-amazed-by-claims-declan-rice-is-too-slow/) fired a penalty against the foot of the post after just three minutes.

Not perturbed by his own error, Rice took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/_DeclanRice/status/1395131091707650050) after the win to call for ‘one last push’ from his teammates.

> Twitter: Bet that was stressful to watch hammers fans![😂](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f602.svg)![😅](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f605.svg) MASSIVE win! Now we have one last push Sunday!! Let’s go![🙌](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f64c.svg)![⚒️](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/2692.svg) https://t.co/DDH3afLXCB (@\_DeclanRice)

The 22-year-old has recently returned from a [knee injury](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/players/david-moyes-declan-rice-injury-20548013) and can perhaps be forgiven for fluffing his lines from the spot.

After all, this season has been another remarkable campaign for the central midfielder – making [34 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdaten/spieler/357662) across all competitions and earning an average [Sofascore rating of 7.07](https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714) from 31 Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Most Hammers will simply be relieved to see Rice back and three points in the bag.

Following a [superb 2020/21 campaign](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/march/07-march/david-moyes-transformation-year-ago-now-great), Moyes’ men will be desperate to qualify for the Europa League as a reward.

At least a point from the final day clash with Southampton on Sunday at The London Stadium will see the Hammers finish [inside the top six](https://www.premierleague.com/tables).
