# Virals: Yannick Bolasie calls out ‘madness’ Tomas Soucek omission

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/18/virals-west-ham-open-talks-with-slavia-prague-for-abdallah-sima/) midfielder [Tomas Soucek](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/17/ray-houghton-claims-tomas-soucek-is-a-major-poty-contender/) has been pulling up trees in the Premier League almost since the moment he arrived on loan from Slavia Prague last January.

Having made an impact during a [short-term stay](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/29-january/west-ham-united-complete-loan-signing-czech-midfielder-tomas), the Hammers acted to make the move permanent last summer.

Soucek has gone on to become a lynchpin in David Moyes’ side – scoring [nine league goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tomas-soucek/leistungsdaten/spieler/283628) from a predominantly holding midfield role.

Last week, [Sky Sports MNF](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12302898/jamie-carragher-and-gary-nevilles-monday-night-football-awards-player-signing-team-of-the-season-and-more) punditry duo Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville both overlooked the Czech ace when naming their teams of the season – an oversight Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has been left [bemused](https://twitter.com/YannickBolasie/status/1394374482152787974?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1394374482152787974%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsportslens.com%2Fyannick-bolasie-believes-tomas-soucek-should-be-in-the-premier-league-team-of-the-season%2F356348%2F) over.

> Twitter: How I’m not seeing Soucek in any teams of the season is a madness….the guys been unplayable, also I’ll put Digne/… https://t.co/VrhSuVUGjy (@YannickBolasie)

The 26-year-old has [barely missed a minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tomas-soucek/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/283628/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) for the Hammers this season – earning an average [Sofascore rating of 7.13](https://www.sofascore.com/player/tomas-soucek/799041) across 36 league outings.

Capped [33 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tomas-soucek/nationalmannschaft/spieler/283628/verein_id/3445) by the Czech Republic, Soucek has looked to be a bargain from the outset for £15million ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12035297/west-ham-sign-tomas-soucek-from-slavia-prague-on-four-year-deal)).

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

There is little doubt the Czech midfielder warrants more recognition for what has been a superb 2020/21 campaign personally.

Alongside Declan Rice, who himself was perhaps in the running for honours prior to his [recent injury](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/declan-rice-injury-west-ham-20508149) setback, Soucek has been a pillar of strength in the Moyes midfield – allowing the likes of Pablo Fornals and [Jesse Lingard to flourish](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/12273193/jesse-lingard-in-scintillating-form-at-west-ham-after-loan-from-man-utd) further forwards.
