# Virals: David Moyes opens the door to Marko Arnautovic return

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/14/mark-lawrenson-predicts-west-ham-and-brighton-draw/) manager David Moyes has refused to rule out the possibility of bringing [Marko Arnautovic](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/07/dean-windass-dismisses-marko-arnautovic-return-rumours/) back to the London Stadium this summer.

The Hammers are expected to enter the market for at least one striker after [Sebastien Haller left the club](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55576847) in January.

Moyes recently [ruled out](https://www.90min.com/posts/david-moyes-west-ham-race-40m-tammy-abraham) a £40million move for Chelsea frontman Tammy Abraham and a report from [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/chelsea-s-fikayo-tomori-set-for-25m-milan-switch-west-ham-eye-serie-a-hotshot-transfer-notebook_sto8314126/story.shtml) has since claimed the Irons could have a summer budget around the £35million mark.

Ahead of a crucial clash with Brighton on Saturday in the [race for Europe](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) next season, Moyes was [asked](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12306796/could-arnautovic-return-to-west-ham) whether there was a chance Arnautovic could return to east London, as cited by [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1393347995165499394) on Twitter.

The 32-year-old remains in China plying his trade for Shanghai Port – albeit [reports](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/west-ham-ready-hijack-bologna-arnautovic-transfer) have suggested the [87-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marko-arnautovic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/41384/verein_id/3383) Austrian is looking to move on.

This season Arnautovic has scored [three goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marko-arnautovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/41384) in just four matches, earning an average [Sofascore rating of 7.38](https://www.sofascore.com/player/marko-arnautovic/21927) along the way.

Links with this sensational return simply refuse to go away.

Despite enjoying a stellar time with the Irons, scoring [22 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marko-arnautovic/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/41384) in 65 outings, the way in which the Austrian [ended his time at the club](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/02/marko-arnautovic-west-ham-move-china-bid-contract-arsenal-brazilian-gabriel-martinelli) still leaves a bad taste.

West Ham certainly need a striker this summer, however, a controversial move for a 32-year-old is surely far from the ideal option.
