# Jason Cundy hails West Ham as a ‘perfect’ move for Danny Ings

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/13/gabby-agbonlahor-believes-top-four-could-now-be-beyond-west-ham/) manager David Moyes will almost certainly prioritise a striker signing in the summer having allowed [Sebastien Haller](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/23/rob-lee-says-sebastien-haller-wasnt-cut-out-for-premier-league/) to leave in January.

The powerful Ivorian wasn’t replaced in the Hammers squad and [subsequent injuries to Michail Antonio](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/09/michael-antonio-could-miss-rest-of-season-west-ham-david-moyes) have left the Scot bereft of options as a focal point in attack.

Links with [numerous frontmen](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/) have since emerged and the saga looks as though it could rumble on into the opening weeks of the transfer window at least.

[TalkSPORT](https://talksport.com/who/jason-cundy/) pundit and former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy this week has told the station, as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1392244376580014082) that Southampton ace Danny Ings would be the ‘perfect’ candidate.

> There is a place for him in a team higher up than Southampton. He’s too good to be playing for a side that’s threatened by relegation. I don’t know whether he’s going to be big enough to do it at that level \[Champions League\]. I think Champions League football is what he needs, for my money, needs to have proven himself in. I think West Ham’s perfect. He will score goals in whatever team you put him in. He will score goals. West Ham feels a nice fit, doesn’t it?

Despite injury issues this season, Ings has netted [12 Premier League goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/leistungsdaten/spieler/134294) in 26 appearances – [three more](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/west-ham-united/top-scorers) than top Irons trio Antonio, Tomas Soucek and Jesse Lingard.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing the [3-cap England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/nationalmannschaft/spieler/134294/verein_id/3299) from a domestic rival would be a huge statement of intent from West Ham.

Having battled with the likes of Southampton on [numerous occasions](https://talksport.com/football/734041/west-ham-all-but-secure-survival-win-watford/#:~:text=important-,West%20Ham%20all%20but%20secure%20Premier%20League%20survival%20thanks%20to,points%20against%20relegation%20rivals%20Watford&text=West%20Ham's%20place%20in%20the,against%20Watford%20on%20Friday%20night.) in previous campaigns, to be taking their prized assets from them would show just how much progress has been made at the London Stadium.

[Valued at £19.8million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/marktwertverlauf/spieler/134294) and with just over a year left on his [current deal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/profil/spieler/134294) at St Mary’s, there is a possibility Ings could indeed move on this summer.
