# Virals: West Ham add Duvan Zapata to their summer shortlist

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/11/virals-rumored-throwback-new-west-ham-kits-hit-twitter/) manager [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/09/pundit-reactions-tony-cottee-hails-david-moyes-for-fantastic-season/) will almost certainly prioritise a striker signing this summer and numerous names have already been thrown into the mix.

After making the decision to allow [Sebastien Haller to leave](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55576847) the London Stadium for Ajax in January, the Hammers have been [left with Michail Antonio](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) as their only senior recognised frontman.

The likes of Tammy Abraham, Ivan Toney, Adam Armstrong and Youssef En-Nesyri have all been [linked](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/) with the role previously.

However, each of those have their [drawbacks](https://talksport.com/football/821164/west-ham-offer-sevilla-youssef-en-nesyri-bid/) and complications – leading to new frontmen being added seemingly all the while.

Now, a fresh report from [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/transfers/2020-2021/chelsea-s-fikayo-tomori-set-for-25m-milan-switch-west-ham-eye-serie-a-hotshot-transfer-notebook_sto8314126/story.shtml), as cited by [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1392178122674610176) on Twitter, has claimed West Ham will have £35million to spend on a new forward and Atalanta ace Duvan Zapata is the latest player to make the shortlist.

This season Zapata has scored [18 goals and registered 12 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/duvan-zapata/leistungsdaten/spieler/73794) in 45 appearances across all competitions – taking the [16-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/duvan-zapata/nationalmannschaft/spieler/73794/verein_id/3816) Columbian to [95](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/duvan-zapata/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/73794/wettbewerb/IT1) career Serie A strikes.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Zapata would have to be regarded as a major coup for the Irons.

A well established top-level striker, the [£34.2million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/duvan-zapata/marktwertverlauf/spieler/73794) ace would likely[hit the ground running](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/41073/Show/Duv%C3%A1n-Zapata) in the Premier League and an adaptation period would be negligible.

Given Moyes recently [ruled West Ham out of the running](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/41073/Show/Duv%C3%A1n-Zapata) for a £40million Chelsea valuation on Abraham, a deal for Zapata would be within the same realms and could also prove difficult.
