# Virals: West Ham keen on Chelsea defender Marc Guehi

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/10/kevin-campbell-cant-believe-declan-rice-too-slow-claims/) are believed to be keen on Chelsea centre-back Marc Guehi and could make loan move this summer.

That’s according to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2576161/2021/05/10/ornstein-bamford-secretly-extends-deal-pfa-awards-confusion-wycome-could-sue-abraham-guehi-futures/), as cited by [EFL Hub](https://twitter.com/efl_hub/status/1391702368199315457) on Twitter, who also name Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Southampton as potential suitors.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan in the Championship with Swansea City and about to [embark on the play-offs](https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/championship-play-fixtures-kick-times-20544888) – should the Welsh club be successful they could attempt to make the deal permanent.

This season Guehi has been a driving force behind Swansea’s success, earning an average [Sofascore rating of 6.88](https://www.sofascore.com/player/marc-guehi/877994) in 40 Championship outings.

During a recent spell away on England Under 21 duty, the [11-cap youngster](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marc-guehi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/392757/verein_id/9565) was [dubbed](https://onefootball.com/en/news/chelsea-defender-marc-guehi-dubbed-absolute-tank-by-england-u21-teammates-32682088) an ‘absolute tank’ by international teammate and Stoke City goalkeeper Josef Bursik.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

[David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/09/pundit-reactions-tony-cottee-hails-david-moyes-for-fantastic-season/) could delve back into the transfer market this summer having [failed](https://talksport.com/football/760981/james-tarkowski-west-ham-third-final-bid-burnley-rejected/) to land seemingly number one target James Tarkowski last summer.

Despite the permanent arrival of loanee Craig Dawson, the potential imminent departure of Fabian Balbuena and the injury issues suffered by I[ssa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/february/12-february/west-ham-united-issue-issa-diop-and-angelo-ogbonna-update) could mean more options are still necessary.

Signing Guehi would certainly bolster the [current ranks](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) at the London Stadium and would also stand the squad in good stead for the future.
