# Virals: David Ornstein claims West Ham ‘want’ Tammy Abraham on loan

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/10/virals-roshane-thomas-spots-telling-moment-after-90-minutes/) reportedly will attempt to sign Chelsea striker [Tammy Abraham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/05/noel-whelan-tips-david-moyes-for-tammy-abraham-u-turn/) when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.

That’s according to a report this morning from [The Atheltic](https://theathletic.com/news/tammy-abraham-transfer-news-west-ham-chelsea/oNpFHrOAYEm9) and as cited by [David Ornstein](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1391649228972347395) on Twitter.

Hammers boss David Moyes recently [insisted](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/tammy-abraham-chelsea-transfer-west-ham-b1841180.html) the club would be out of the race for the 23-year-old after [reports emerged](https://www.football365.com/news/chelsea-transfer-40m-abraham-striker-overhaul) the west Londoners would demand in the region of £40million for their man.

However, a loan move could be on the cards as the [six-cap England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/nationalmannschaft/spieler/331726/verein_id/3299) looks to obtain first-team football having [fallen out of favour](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/331726/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/631) under new Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel.

This season Abraham has scored [12 goals and registered six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdaten/spieler/331726) across 32 appearances in all competitions – averaging [6.88 with Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/tammy-abraham/610766) in the process.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Abraham would be a major coup for West Ham.

Already a [proven performer](https://www.premierleague.com/players/13286/Tammy-Abraham/overview) in the Premier League, the London-born striker could be a pick of the summer acquisitions in the entire top-flight.

As for the deal itself, coming off the back of a [dismal financial year](https://www.skysports.com/football/story-telling/11095/12241988/counting-the-cost-covids-impact-on-footballs-finances) across the football world, shelling out £40million was always likely to be a stretch for the Hammers.

This way a smaller loan fee can be expected whilst perhaps outlining the terms for a permanent deal should certain stipulations be met.
