# Virals: West Ham have reportedly ‘made an enquiry’ for Marko Arnautovic

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/07/kevin-phillips-amazed-by-claims-declan-rice-is-too-slow/) and have reportedly ‘already made an enquiry’ for much-maligned ex-Iron [Marko Arnautovic](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/31/on-this-day-west-ham-fire-three-past-southampton/) as he looks set to leave China this summer.

Premier League [rivals Crystal Palace](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) have also been credited with showing an interest in the Austrian forward, who [left east London](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/july/08-july/marko-arnautovic-departs-west-ham-united-chinese-super-league) in July 2019.

With [20 goals and four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marko-arnautovic/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/41384) in 38 games for Shanghai SIPG following his [£22.5million](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/04/west-ham-to-sell-marko-arnautovic-25m-euros-china#:~:text=West%20Ham%20have%20decided%20to,let%20the%20Austrian%20forward%20leave.) switch, the 32-year-old has enjoyed a prosperous time since departing the London Stadium.

Now, as Arnautovic reportedly angles for a move away, [Il Resto del Carlino](https://www.ilrestodelcarlino.it/) (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-already-made-enquiry-surprise-return-club-idol-crystal-palace-providing-competition/)) have named the English duo as possible destinations, as cited by [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1390339227666296834) on Twitter.

The [87-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marko-arnautovic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/41384/verein_id/3383) Austrian scored[22 Premier League goals](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4823/Marko-Arnautovic/overview) in 66 outings for the Hammers – adding to 21 for Stoke City previously – earning [praise from BBC pundit Garth Crooks](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2018/april/03-april/pundits-and-ex-players-heap-praise-awesome-arnautovic) following one particularly ‘awesome’ display.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

David Moyes will prioritise a centre-forward signing this summer, perhaps two.

However, Arnautovic would surely be well down the pecking order of [top targets](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/) for the Scot.

Putting to one side the [acrimonious](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/marko-arnautovic-told-not-leaving-13836850) departure, having spent two years in the wilderness, making an impactful and successful return to the English top-flight is no easy task.

Whether Irons would accept the Austrian back is another matter altogether, but perhaps as a second striker signing to act as the third choice behind Michail Antonio and a marquee signing.
