# Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham will beat Everton

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has backed [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/07/virals-west-ham-have-reportedly-made-an-enquiry-for-marko-arnautovic/) to beat Everton 2-0 when the two sides clash on Sunday at the London Stadium.

Following a 2-1 victory over Burnley, last Monday night [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/06/virals-west-ham-account-names-five-top-striker-targets/)’ men remain in the hunt for a top-four spot in the Premier League with four games remaining.

The Hammers head into the weekend’s action three points behind Chelsea and a win against the Toffees in east London could see [elite European qualification](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) become a real possibility as their nearest rivals take on Manchester City.

Lawrenson, not renowned for predicting West Ham victories, has told his [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56966043) column that he believes the Irons will come out on top.

> West Ham were very impressive when they beat Burnley last weekend. I thought they were tailing off a bit after losing their previous two games, but they looked really strong at Turf Moor. Everton are much better on the road than they are at home but I think they are in for a difficult day in east London. The Hammers beat them at Goodison Park in January and I am expecting them to do the same at London Stadium on Sunday.

Moyes could be set to [welcome back](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/07-may/it-happened-david-moyes-pre-everton-press-conference) Declan Rice and Angelo Ogbonna to the ranks as the Scot goes in search of three points against his former employers.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

If Lawrenson has predicted a West Ham win then the side must really be doing something right.

Ultimately with [12 points left to play for](https://www.skysports.com/west-ham-united-fixtures) the Hammers must keep picking up wins and hope Chelsea slip up.

Were that to happen then what seemed the impossible [Champions League dream](https://talksport.com/football/875493/west-ham-chelsea-top-four-race-burnley-michail-antonio/) may just become a reality.
