# Virals: West Ham dealt damaging injury blow to Mark Noble

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/06/pundit-reactions-rob-lee-expects-summer-bids-for-declan-rice/) have been handed another injury blow on the run-in as club captain [Mark Noble](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/11/west-ham-fans-pour-love-on-mark-noble-after-retirement-hint/) has been ruled out for the next two matches.

Having [deputised](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mark-noble/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/31835/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) in central midfield in the absence of Declan Rice, Noble was himself absent for the 2-1 victory over Burnley on Monday night, the prognosis regarding the 33-year-old somewhat unknown.

However, reliable Hammers insider [ExWHUemployee](https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee) has shed light on the situation on [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/posts/team-news-update-50813082), as cited by [InjuryMechanisms](https://twitter.com/IMechanisms) on Twitter.

Ex has predicted Noble will miss the upcoming clashes with Everton and Brighton, games the Irons will be desperate to claim maximum points from as the [race for the top four](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) heats up.

Capped [20 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mark-noble/nationalmannschaft/spieler/31835/verein_id/9565) by England at Under 21 level, the man is affectionately known as ‘Mr West Ham’ has represented the east Londoners on [525 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mark-noble/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/31835) down the years.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Whilst Manuel Lanzini stepped into the breach [admirably](https://www.sofascore.com/player/manuel-lanzini/220315) on Monday night, David Moyes will be fixated with [Rice’s fitness](https://talksport.com/football/866738/declan-rice-injury-update-david-moyes-west-ham-premier-league/) as he prepares for the visit of his former club, Everton.

Ogbonna has also missed a [large and all-important portion](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angelo-ogbonna/verletzungen/spieler/48002) of the campaign, another who Moyes will be hoping to have available for the final few fixtures.

Ultimately the recent injury saga is a further indication that a big summer is needed to strengthen the depth in the [existing squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad).
