# Virals: David Moyes ‘completely rules out’ Tammy Abraham move

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/03/virals-declan-rice-could-be-risked-for-crucial-burnley-clash/) manager David Moyes has said Chelsea reportedly demanding a fee of £40-45million for [Tammy Abraham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/30/simon-jordan-believes-tammy-abraham-will-think-beyond-west-ham/) ‘completely’ rules the Hammers out of a summer move.

The 23-year-old striker has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel, leading to [speculation that his future](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9534695/AC-Milan-set-rival-West-Ham-40m-Chelsea-outcast-Tammy-Abraham.html) may lie elsewhere.

However, more [recent reports](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/04/28/chelsea-ready-offload-tammy-abraham-40m-club-plot-overhaul-forward/) have claimed the Blues will hold out for a fee in excess of £40million for the [six-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/nationalmannschaft/spieler/331726/verein_id/3299) England ace – a fee Moyes has baulked at, as quoted by [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12293566/tammy-abraham-david-moyes-says-40m-price-tag-for-chelsea-striker-would-rule-west-ham-out-of-transfer) and reported by [Frank Khalid on Twitter](https://twitter.com/FrankKhalidUK/status/1389084799185346564).

> It would rule us out completely. We will be ruled out. We don’t have that money, we don’t have that to buy a striker at that price, no. Is that sort of figure our total spend? It may well be. But you never know here. I don’t think we will be making a purchase of that for any one player. I’d be surprised if we were.

Abraham, who was [described](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11677/11726834/tammy-abraham-and-tyrone-mings-aston-villa-spirit-john-terry-influence-and-play-off-final) as having ‘everything’ by Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings, remains the top goalscorer at Chelsea with [12 goals in 32 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdaten/spieler/331726) across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing a striker has to be at the very top of Moyes’ list of priorities this summer.

Having allowed Sebastien Haller to leave in January and given Michail Antonio’s ongoing[battle with injury](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/09/michael-antonio-could-miss-rest-of-season-west-ham-david-moyes), there is no way the Hammers can go into 2021/22 without another recognised frontline striker.

This admission from the Scot is perhaps slightly unnerving, as a majority of top-level frontmen will cost in the region of £40million – anything less is perhaps reflective of a drop in standard.
