# Trevor Sinclair urges West Ham to sign Tammy Abraham

Former [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/29/kevin-campbell-fears-big-blow-were-jesse-lingard-to-miss-burnley-clash/) winger Trevor Sinclair has urged his previous employers to sign Chelsea striker [Tammy Abraham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/24/martin-keown-believes-west-ham-move-is-perfect-for-tammy-abraham/) this summer.

David Moyes will be desperate to sign at least one frontman ahead of next season, having allowed [Sebastien Haller to leave the London Stadium](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55576847)in January.

That decision left the Scot with only an injury-stricken Michail Antonio as a senior recognised striker at his [disposal](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) – something that has come back to bite the Hammers as the 30-year-old currently[sits out](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/09/michael-antonio-could-miss-rest-of-season-west-ham-david-moyes) with a hamstring issue.

[Reports](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/04/28/chelsea-ready-offload-tammy-abraham-40m-club-plot-overhaul-forward/) have suggested Abraham could be made available for around £40m having fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge, a move Sinclair told [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/873149/chelsea-tammy-abraham-tipped-west-ham-arsenal-transfer/) would make an abundance of sense.

> Abraham would be a great match for West Ham. It’s what they want, it’s what they need with \[Michail\] Antonio’s injuries. He tends to pick up quite a lot of muscular because he is an absolute unit. The West Ham fans would love Abraham. He’s got everything. He’s obviously a talented player. I’m a big fan of his. I just want to see him playing football. If he’s not developing and continuing to improve as a player, he’s standing still and that’s not great for a young player.

Despite being exiled in west London, Abraham remains [Chelsea’s top goalscorer](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/top-scorers) this term with [12 goals in 31 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdaten/spieler/331726) across all competitions.

The 23-year-old, who was [described as ‘Didier Drogba-esque’](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1185776/Chelsea-Tammy-Abraham-Rio-Ferdinand-Didier-Drogba)by another former Iron, Rio Ferdinand, has earned an average [Sofascore rating of 6.80](https://www.sofascore.com/player/tammy-abraham/610766) in the Premier League this season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Abraham would be a major coup for the Hammers, both for prospect purposes, current squad purposes and to sign an[asset](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/marktwertverlauf/spieler/331726) from a major rival.

West Ham are [currently in direct competition](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) with Chelsea – a fact Moyes and co will hope is a continuing trend.

Landing the [six-cap England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/nationalmannschaft/spieler/331726/verein_id/3299) would stand the Irons in very good stead for next season at least, although the £40m mooted fee would present difficulties given the financial climate.
