# Paul Robinson believes ‘top player’ Odsonne Edouard is suited to EPL

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/26/virals-jesse-lingard-laments-joke-var-on-social-media/) should jump at the chance to sign [Odsonne Edouard](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/20/kevin-campbell-excited-by-bargain-odsonne-edouard-price-tag/) this summer.

This comes as [reports link the Hammers](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/west-ham-transfer-news-hammers-leading-race-to-sign-odsonne-edouard) with the Celtic star, with fears growing north of the border that they may lose Edouard for as little as £10million at the end of the season when the Frenchman enters the final [12 months of his contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152).

The 23-year-old has been a revelation at Celtic Park since arriving from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, scoring [81 goals in 165 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/344152).

Taking those goalscoring exploits and overall ability into account, Robinson has told [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/edouard-tipped-to-dazzle-at-west-ham-after-big-transfer-update-robinson/) that the Irons should be desperate to land the striker.

> He would be a great signing for any club, especially if you can get him for £10m. You’d bite their hand off at that price. Edouard is a top, top player who has a lot of strings to his bow. He can drift wide, come deep and score goals. The Premier League would suit him as a player. I could see him settling in well if he moved to West Ham. I think he will have a big impact if he comes.

Moyes will almost certainly prioritise a striker signing this summer having allowed [Sebastien Haller to leave](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss#:~:text=West%20Ham's%20need%20for%20a,senior%20forward%20at%20his%20disposal.) in January without finding a replacement.

Michail Antonio, unfortunately, [can’t be relied upon](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/09/michael-antonio-could-miss-rest-of-season-west-ham-david-moyes) for prolonged fixture periods, meaning Moyes will look to sign at least one frontman.

Signing Edouard for the mooted £10million fee would be an incredibly shrewd piece of business, especially given his [market value](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/344152) of £13.5million.

Goals aside, this season the [13-cap France Under 21 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/344152/verein_id/9323) has earned an average [Sofascore rating of 7.17](https://www.sofascore.com/player/odsonne-edouard/795228) in the Scottish Premiership.
