# Marlon Harewood expects Lukasz Fabianski to remain West Ham number one

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/22/rob-lee-predicts-major-interest-in-jesse-lingard-this-summer/) favourite Marlon Harewood has backed[Lukasz Fabianski](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/20/pundit-reactions-paddy-kenny-lauds-brilliant-lukasz-fabianski-after-apology/) to maintain the number one spot at the London Stadium regardless of who comes in to challenge.

This comes as [reports](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/14613831/west-ham-seny-dieng-qpr/) link the Hammers with a move for QPR stopper Seny Dieng who has kept [10 clean sheets](https://fbref.com/en/players/c135cddd/Seny-Dieng) in the Championship this season.

Fabianski recently [signed a new deal](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-lukasz-fabianski-new-contract-2022-b923287.html) to keep him with the Irons until the summer of 2022 at least and remains the first choice under David Moyes – missing just [two Premier League games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lukasz-fabianski/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/29692/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) through injury this term.

Harewood, who represented the club on [164](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marlon-harewood/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/10011) occasions, has told [This Is Futbol](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/04/blogs/premier-league/west-ham/exclusive-harewood-seny-dieng-west-ham-transfer-rumours-e82/) that the 36-year-old should remain number one for the foreseeable.

> Fabianski has been absolutely fantastic but hopefully Moyes will be telling the [board](https://thisisfutbol.com/tag/board/) that they need these type of players at the [club](https://thisisfutbol.com/tag/club/) if we want to move forward. Hopefully Fabianski will take those [rumours](https://thisisfutbol.com/tag/rumours/) on and say, ‘obviously you’re a top-class keeper, but this is my spot’[.](https://thisisfutbol.com/tag/5799/) It would be good to have that calibre of goalkeeper as cover really but I definitely see Fabianski as the number one.

The Polish ‘keeper is a vastly experienced operator having earned [55 caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lukasz-fabianski/nationalmannschaft/spieler/29692/verein_id/3442) for his nation and recently making his [274th](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3309/Lukasz-Fabianski/overview) Premier League appearance.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Fabianski has staved off competition from [Darren Randolph and David Martin](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) thus far and will be confident in his ability to keep his place should Moyes strengthen the department further this summer.

Having earned an average [Sofascore rating of 6.81](https://www.sofascore.com/player/lukasz-fabianski/15479) in the league this season, the Pole can take credit for his role in the [upturn in fortunes](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) at the London Stadium.
