# Kevin Campbell excited by ‘bargain’ Odsonne Edouard price tag

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/19/after-90-vladimir-coufal-jokes-son-has-new-idol-during-sunny-kickabout/) are [reportedly](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leicester-city-have-second-thoughts-on-celtic-edouard-deal/) leading the race to sign Celtic striker [Odsonne Edouard](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/05/west-ham-set-to-miss-out-on-leicester-bound-odsonne-edouard/), with the Frenchman looking to move onto pastures new this summer.

Edouard has seen a [dramatic drop in asking price](https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/odsonne-edouards-celtic-asking-price-19686198) as the 23-year-old approaches the [last 12 months of his contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152) and could now be available for as little as £8m.

Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell has told [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-edouard-pundit/) at that price the Hammers could face major competition for the Frenchman’s signature.

> Oh yeah, that’s a bargain. He’s a very good player, he’s a great hold up player and I don’t think West Ham will be the only team coming in for Edouard this summer. For less than £15million? Trust me, it won’t just be West Ham who want to sign him if he’s available for that little.

This season the [prolific](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/344152/verein_id/9323) France Under 21 international has bagged [20 goals in 36 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152) across all competitions.

Those numbers, albeit impressive, pale into insignificance compared to [previous campaigns](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344152) for the man[hailed as ‘magnificent’](https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/magnificent-celtic-star-odsonne-edouard-19524116) by former boss Neil Lennon.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Edouard has been a truly prolific frontman during his time with Celtic, scoring[81 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/344152) in 164 outings.

Whether that form can translate into the [more competitive Premier League](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45225593) remains the big questions.

However, at the mooted fee he would certainly be worth any risk.
