# Alan Smith hails West Ham trio ‘producing the goods’

Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal striker Alan Smith has been sharing the love around the [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/16/trevor-sinclair-launches-stout-defence-of-west-ham-fans/) squad – opting to praise stars other than [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/16/paul-robinson-urges-jesse-lingard-to-move-this-summer/).

Unsurprisingly the Manchester United loanee has been receiving plaudits aplenty recently having made a huge impact since arriving in east London – scoring [eight goals and assisting four others](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) in just nine Premier League outings.

However, as David Moyes’ men look to take another step [towards UEFA Champions League qualification](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), Smith has named other key figures deserving of a mention in his column for the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/alan-smith-column-chelsea-fc-pulisic-man-city-fa-cup-b930058.html):

> Jesse Lingard, of course, has played a huge part. But this is very much a team effort from David Moyes’s lot. Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Craig Dawson — they are all producing the goods to keep those improbable Champions League dreams very much alive.

The aforementioned quartet have [all arrived under the tutelage of Moyes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) in the last 16 months – albeit Dawson’s move remains a loan deal from Watford for the time being.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Moyes’ policy of[signing players with a point to prove](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/28-january/david-moyes-we-want-young-hungry-talent-club) at the top level has thus far proved to be a masterstroke.

Not only have the Hammers moved [well clear of relegation threat](https://talksport.com/football/734041/west-ham-all-but-secure-survival-win-watford/#:~:text=important-,West%20Ham%20all%20but%20secure%20Premier%20League%20survival%20thanks%20to,points%20against%20relegation%20rivals%20Watford&text=West%20Ham's%20place%20in%20the,against%20Watford%20on%20Friday%20night.), as things stand the Irons are set to embark on a European adventure next term.

Whilst European qualification is a huge bonus in itself, it could also ensure Moyes is able to [keep hold of his star names](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/soucek-tipped-to-attract-interest-from-premier-league/1d7hn27o3s7q213lmhc72tdoy9), including those singled out by Smith.
