# Pundit says Sander Berge could take ‘natural’ move to West Ham

Former Norway international Erik Thorstvedt believes a move to [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/09/pundit-predicts-west-ham-victory-over-leicester-city/) would be the ‘natural’ switch for Sheffield United ace [Sander Berge](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/16/sander-berge-doubt-west-ham-visit-norway-quarantine/).

The 23-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move away from Bramall Lane as the Blades face up to their impending relegation – with [both Manchester City](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9441773/Manchester-City-line-shock-Sheffield-United-midfielder-Sander-Berge.html) and Liverpool [mooted](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sander-berge-jurgen-klopp-20215175) as potential suitors.

However, speaking to homeland TV outlet [Nettavissen](https://www.nettavisen.no/sport/ekspert-om-berges-city-rykter-vi-ma-roe-oss-ned/s/12-95-3424111306), retired goalkeeper Thorstvedt, ha claimed a switch to the Hammers or a fellow Premier League rival could be better suited.

> I’m not sure (he should join Man City). It looks like Fernandinho will be gone so they will soon be looking for a replacement. It is also a badly hidden secret (Berge) will change clubs this summer. Basically, I would have thought a club like Aston Villa or West Ham would be more likely. It would be a natural next step from a club relegated from the same division.

The 58-year-old, who was [capped 94-times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-thorstvedt/nationalmannschaft/spieler/97270/verein_id/3440) by Norway, went onto say whilst a move to either claret and blue club may make more sense, it would’ve ‘been fun’ to see Berge arrive at either Anfield or the Etihad.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

David Moyes will certainly be on the lookout for central midfield reinforcements this summer – especially after [Declan Rice’s injury](https://talksport.com/football/860133/declan-rice-west-ham-knee-injury/) highlighted the lack of strength in depth in the position.

Berge has been highly touted in the past, Jurgen Klopp is known to be an admirer after [praising the Norwegian’s performance](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2861528-sander-berge-welcomes-wonderful-praise-from-liverpool-manager-jurgen-klopp) following a Champions League clash in 2019.

Given the Yorkshire clubs [soon to be Championship status](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), the Irons would be well placed to plot a swoop.
