# Report: West Ham could land Adam Armstrong for ‘under £20m’

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/04/west-ham-target-oleksandr-zinchenko-reportedly-no-longer-an-option/)have discovered Blackburn Rovers’ summer demands for striker [Adam Armstrong,](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/02/west-ham-target-adam-armstrong-would-be-granted-premier-league-move/) according to a report from [Football League World](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-west-ham-and-newcastle-united-stance-on-adam-armstrong-becomes-clearer-as-blackburn-rovers-demands-narrow/).

The report claims the Championship club will be willing to accept ‘under £20m’ for the 24-year-old who has [19 league goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/leistungsdaten/spieler/250426) this season.

It’s also stated that the Hammers aren’t alone in their interest, as Armstrong’s former club [Newcastle United are keen to reunite](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/250426)with the in-form marksman.

David Moyes will certainly [be in the market for a frontman](https://www.football365.com/news/feature-west-ham-striker-haller-giroud-dembele-king) ahead of next season, having allowed[Sebastien Haller to leave](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss#:~:text=West%20Ham's%20need%20for%20a,senior%20forward%20at%20his%20disposal.) in January without replacing the Ivorian.

That decision has put [immense pressure on Michail Antonio](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad)to stay fit, with alternative[makeshift options filling in](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1485426/Preview/England-Premier-League-2020-2021-West-Ham-Sheffield-United) where necessary.

Armstrong’s future has been a hot topic in recent times with the [Irons’ interest well documented](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-rovers-armstrong-west-ham-19907661), whilst Rovers manager [Tony Mowbray has been open](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/rovers-adam-armstrong-summer-transfer-19942358) about the difficulty in retaining the ace should they fail to earn promotion.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Having previously [mooted a £30m price tag](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-would-cash-adam-armstrong-19304918) the sudden drop in demand is perhaps a combination of the realisation Blackburn are [unlikely to earn promotion](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table), as well as[Armstrong’s dwindling contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/profil/spieler/250426)situation.

Whatever the rationale, this could come as a massive boost for the Hammers who could perceivably land the[prolific second-tier star](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/top-scorers) for less than originally thought, leaving[funds available elsewhere](https://www.claretandhugh.info/moyes-will-add-winter-money-to-summer-budget/).

As for Newcastle’s interest, with their own [Premier League status somewhat in doubt](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), the Irons could well see a clear route to the striker come to the end of the campaign.
