# Marcelo Bielsa waxes lyrical over West Ham stars

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has taken the opportunity ahead of [Monday night’s trip to the London Stadium](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) to praise a number of [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/04/noel-whelan-wowed-by-west-hams-mentality-shift/)‘s stars.

Speaking to the [club’s official website](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/27809/marcelo-bielsa-we-have-managed-the-week-in-a-combined-manner), the [eccentric Argentine](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/marcelo-bielsa-inside-theworld-footballs-mosteccentricmanager/)has hailed the Hammers successes this term as well as some of the individual orchestrators.

He said:

> ”A secret or something special – it’s not just me who observes it, they’ve been able to maintain a stable partnership in midfield. The two players there \[Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek\] are very important. For each of the attacking roles, they have two players. Especially with the two wingers and offensive midfielder. The four full-backs they possess are important players.”

The 65-year-old then went on to praise the[set-piece abilities of Aaron Cresswell](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/october/02-october/why-free-kick-king-aaron-cresswells-patience-paying) and [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/26/west-ham-fans-react-david-moyes-dismisses-celtic-speculation/)‘ ability to ‘obtain some very good minutes’ from key players.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Some very astute and complementary observations from Monday’s opposite number.

The Hammers by in large have maintained a[core of players](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/leistungsdaten/verein/379)who have helped provide consistency of performance thus far.

This is never more evident than in the midfield with [Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek playing every minute](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) in the league – were it not for a[red card](https://theathletic.com/news/tomas-soucek-west-ham-overturned/EFUyYoYqsA9M#:~:text=Soucek%20was%20shown%20a%20red,against%20Sheffield%20United%20and%20Tottenham.)given to the Czech ace in the dying seconds at Craven Cottage.
