# Report says one key factor will determine Ivan Toney’s future

Brentford striker and reported[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/03/west-ham-fans-discuss-sebastien-hallers-top-four-message/) target [Ivan Toney](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/20/pundit-tips-west-ham-to-sign-ivan-toney-in-summer/)‘s future will boil down to one key factor according to a report from [Football London](https://www.football.london/brentford-fc/ivan-toney-brentford-future-arsenal-19950585).

Citing the Championship club’s strategic report stating the [need to sell players on at a profit](https://talksport.com/football/fa-cup/659667/brentford-data-revolution-england-smartest-club-championship-leicester-fa-cup/)in order to remain sustainable and ultimately successful in the division, the report pins[Toney’s future](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9154337/Arsenal-tracking-Brentfords-Ivan-Toney-West-Ham-interested.html) all on promotion to the Premier League.

Recalling the recent sales of[Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay to the top-flight](https://www.brightonandhoveindependent.co.uk/sport/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/battle-ex-brentford-strikers-brightons-neal-maupay-and-aston-villas-ollie-watkins-collide-3043300) having shone in west London, Toney, who has [also been linked with Arsenal](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1404931/Arsenal-news-Ivan-Toney-transfer-Brentford), is earmarked as being likely to follow in their footsteps should the Bees not earn promotion this term.

Furthermore, it’s stated should [Brentford earn a place in the Premier League,](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table) it would take ‘obscene money’ to land the [25 goal ace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ivan-toney/leistungsdaten/spieler/251664).

However, another season in the Championship could see the[24-year-old sold](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ivan-toney/marktwertverlauf/spieler/251664) with the report claiming a ‘fee of close to £30million’ would be acceptable.

David Moyes and hammers fans moreover will be watching[Brentford’s results](https://www.skysports.com/brentford-results) with a keen eye from hereon out following this report.

Despite holding a perceived market value of just[£9m according to Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ivan-toney/marktwertverlauf/spieler/251664), £30m or thereabouts for a player with his [goal scoring record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ivan-toney/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/251664) at arguably the perfect age to make the step up would be superb business.

Besides, the precedent has been set, both [Watkins and Maupay have stepped up](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) successfully and [Toney all the attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/134240/Show/Ivan-Toney)to do the same.

In a rather catch-22 way, [Toney’s goals could earn promotion](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/top-scorers) and bode well for the striker’s prospects, whilst a slump in form will scupper their chances and his desirability.
