# West Ham target Adam Armstrong could be granted Premier League move

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/02/report-west-ham-keen-to-sign-arsenal-striker-eddie-nketiah/)target [Adam Armstong](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/01/some-west-ham-fans-baulk-at-reported-adam-armstrong-price-tag/)will be allowed to leave Blackburn Rovers should Premier League club’s come calling according to manager Tony Mowbray, as reported by[Lancs Live](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/rovers-adam-armstrong-summer-transfer-19942358).

The 24-year-old is [under contract at Ewood Park](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/profil/spieler/250426) until the summer of 2022, however, [19 league goals in 31 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/leistungsdaten/spieler/250426) this season has brought about speculation around where his future may lie.

With the Hammers[believed to be interested](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/rovers-adam-armstrong-summer-transfer-19942358) during the January transfer window, a summer swoop could be on the cards and Rovers boss Mowbray has said he wouldn’t stand in the striker’s way:

> ”Let’s wait and see. I hope Adam feels he’s at the right place. I’ve had Adam before, at Coventry, he scored 20 goals that season as well. He’s still a relatively young player. Of course, if the Premier League come calling, I would never try and deny an opportunity for a player to go and play in the Premier League. As long as we’re recompensed correctly for the value that we thought so we can reinvest, I think that’s a potential scenario with Adam.”

The 57-year-old was quick to add how he hopes the frontman [will sign a new deal](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19026437.rovers-contract-talks-armstrong-amid-transfer-talk/) with the Lancashire club and score ‘loads and loads of goals’.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Having[flirted with the play-off places](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-news-championship-playoffs-19462641) earlier in the season, [Blackburn’s recent slump](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table)means their promotion bid looks unlikely and therefore[interest in Armstrong](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/adam-armstrongs-premier-league-interest-17769241)will be rife this summer.

Having made the grade the hard way, the [former Newcastle youngster](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/transfers/spieler/250426)fits the bill of a David Moyes type signing and[won’t be afraid to work hard](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/february/09-february/david-moyes-boys-put-great-amount-work) for the cause.

This seems a deal with plenty of scope to come to fruition in the summer, although as ever a lot[could hinge on the valuation](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/03/01/newcastle-learn-high-asking-price-to-seal-adam-armstrong-transfer/), especially with a dwindling contract.
