# Report: West Ham interested in Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/01/many-west-ham-fans-in-appreciation-as-club-president-denies-report/) have been named as a potential suitor for Chelsea striker [Tammy Abraham](https://readastonvilla.com/2021/02/25/aston-villa-fans-want-tammy-abraham-back-chelsea-exit-rumours/) in a report from the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/03/01/do-chelsea-do-tammy-abraham-thomas-tuchel-seems-unconvinced/).

This comes after the 23-year-old was [left out of Tomas Tuchel’s matchday squad](https://metro.co.uk/2021/02/28/why-chelsea-boss-thomas-tuchel-dropped-tammy-abraham-man-utd-clash-14161321/) for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United.

The Hammers are joined in their interest by Premier League rivals Aston Villa, where he[spent a successful loan spell](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/331726), as well as interest from European clubs.

The report claims the Irons would ‘certainly’ be interested in the [six-cap England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/nationalmannschaft/spieler/331726/verein_id/3299) and it[follows speculation](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/chelsea-transfer-news-tammy-abraham-stalls-on-contract-talks-due-to-erling-haaland-interest) that Abraham was stalling over signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge amidst uncertainty over his role within the squad.

During Abraham’s spell on loan with Villa, former Chelsea defender turned coach John Terry [described his impact](https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2019/01/30/john-terry-on-tammy-abraham)as ‘incredible’.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

With [six goals and two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdaten/spieler/331726) to his name this season, the Chelsea ace hasn’t been out of the reckoning altogether.

However, since Frank Lampard’s dismissal and Tuchel’s appointment there has been a shift in the striker role with[Olivier Giroud favoured](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/23/atletico-madrid-chelsea-champions-league-last-16-first-leg-match-report)more often than not.

From a West Ham perspective signing Abraham [would be a major coup](https://www.premierleague.com/players/13286/Tammy-Abraham/overview) and the Irons would be delighted to capitalise on a fellow London-club’s loss, especially with the[pressing need for a frontman](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-striker-transfer-window-19749082) this summer.
