# West Ham eye summer move for Aaron Ramsdale

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/03/01/35m-tag-for-top-west-ham-target-abdallah-sima-denied/) could attempt to sign Sheffield United goalkeeper[Aaron Ramsdale](https://readchelsea.com/2020/03/24/leeds-join-chelsea-and-spurs-in-race-to-land-ramsdale/) at the end of the season should the Blades suffer relegation from the Premier League.

That’s according to a report from reputable insiders [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-could-move-for-blades-star/) who claim Ramsdale could be the long term successor for Lukasz Fabianski at the London Stadium.

Fabianski, who is currently [out injured after a training ground collision](https://metro.co.uk/2021/02/27/west-ham-goalkeeper-lukasz-fabianski-misses-man-city-clash-with-injury-14155997/), will be 36-years old and[back up Darren Randolph 34](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/darren-randolph/profil/spieler/51321) before the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Polish number one also [sees his contract expire this summer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lukasz-fabianski/profil/spieler/29692)and as things stand no new deal has been agreed upon.

Ramsdale meanwhile is just 22 and despite being on the[verge of back to back relegations](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) has retained a [burgeoning reputation](https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sheffield-united-goalkeeper-aaron-ramsdale-19293494) as a Premier League ‘keeper.

The Blades re-signed the stopper from Bournemouth [for £18.5 million](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11683/12052708/aaron-ramsdale-sheffield-united-sign-bournemouth-goalkeeper-for-18-5m) last summer and he recently[earned high praise from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp](https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sheffield-united-liverpool-klopp-ramsdale-19936173)after an ‘incredible’ performance in defeat.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

West Ham’s goalkeeper situation has rather crept up on David Moyes and the Scotsman will almost[certainly be looking to sign a solution](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/22/west-ham-to-reward-david-moyes-with-new-contract-at-end-of-season)this summer.

The caveat of relegation seems a foregone conclusion as the Blades look [powerless to resist](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united-doomed-relegation-must-23248832) their fate, although it remains to be seen whether that would trigger a[sale of their assets](https://www.sufc.co.uk/teams/).

Earning an average [Sofascore rating of 6.73](https://www.sofascore.com/player/aaron-ramsdale/839410) across what has been a [record-breakingly poor season](https://onefootball.com/en/news/embarrassed-sheffield-utd-break-worst-ever-football-league-records-32044775) for the Blades, Ramsdale has acquitted himself relatively well in a rapidly sinking ship.

By comparison, Fabianski has a[rating of 6.85](https://www.sofascore.com/player/lukasz-fabianski/15479) with a [markedly more settled defence](https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sheffield-united-rotten-luck-injuries-19895634)in front of him.
