# Report: Jesse Lingard could be used in Declan Rice offer

Current [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/28/quiz-how-much-can-you-remember-from-west-hams-1998-99-season/)loanee Jesse Lingard could be used as part of a transfer offer from Manchester United for [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/24/football-fans-debate-declan-rices-100m-price-tag/) according to a report from[Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/premier-league/2020-2021/manchester-united-could-offer-jesse-lingard-to-land-declan-rice-open-to-bids-for-anthony-martial_sto8149148/story.shtml).

Lingard’s arrival and[subsequent impact with the Hammers](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/jesse-lingard-explains-what-hes-doing-better-at-west-ham-than-man-utd)have brought about [plenty of speculation](https://www.dazn.com/en-GLOBAL/news/soccer/manchester-united-jesse-lingard-considers-permanent-west-ham-transfer/14nv32hxd2mgr1g9ldfz0z8hks#:~:text=Manchester%20United's%20Jesse%20Lingard%20considers%20permanent%20West%20Ham%20transfer,-Alexander%20Netherton&text=The%20on%2Dloan%20Manchester%20United,to%20West%20Ham%20this%20summer.) over where his permanent future may lie in the summer.

Meanwhile, Rice is reportedly [on the radar of the Old Trafford club](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/man-utd-declan-rice-deal-relies-key-transfer-exit) following another season packed with development from the 22-year-old.

The report outlines Manchester United’s minimum £20m price tag on Lingard, who has scored[three goals in five outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) for the east Londoners, whilst claiming the Irons would demand ‘at least £50m’ for Rice.

Unsurprisingly, it’s suggested Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side could offer[the 28-year-old attacking midfielder](https://www.manutd.com/en/players-and-staff/detail/jesse-lingard) as a makeweight in any attempt to take West Ham’s ever-present star to the North West.

There remains a potential sting in the tail for West Ham’s pursuit of Lingard, with [Leicester City also keen](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-transfer-leicester-city-5040875) on taking the [former England favourite](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/985510/Jesse-Lingard-england-manchester-united-school-coach-feared-too-small) to the King Power Stadium.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

This has to be a non-starter from a Hammers perspective.

Signing Lingard should remain a priority [given his performances](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) thus far, however, involving the club’s prized asset and [devaluing his monetary worth](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/marktwertverlauf/spieler/357662) would make little sense.

In an ideal world, the Irons would retain Rice for the duration of his career, but should the time come to sell it is imperative [West Ham receive the premium fee](https://talksport.com/football/838905/declan-rice-transfer-chelsea-manchester-united-west-ham/) for the[England ace](https://www.thefa.com/england/mens-seniors/stories/growing-up-declan-rice) and if that means waiting until the financial landscape is brighter, then so be it.
