# Quiz: How much can you remember from West Ham’s 1998/99 season?

With [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/27/west-ham-player-ratings-manchester-city-a/) on course to [break new ground](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/january/28-january/six-things-weve-loved-about-west-ham-uniteds-six-wins-january) in the Premier League era this season and perhaps eclipse their [previous high finish of fifth place](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/platzierungen/verein/379) back in 1998/99, what better time than take a trip down memory lane.

Despite the Hammers [coming up short](https://www.mancity.com/citytv/mens/manchester-city-v-west-ham-united-match-highlights-brief-63750035) against a rampant Manchester City side on Saturday, [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/26/west-ham-fans-react-david-moyes-dismisses-celtic-speculation/)‘ side [stay fourth in the table](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) with those around them still to play.

Mixing it with the [preconceived giants](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/the-premier-league-big-six-head-to-head-table-in-2020-21-liverpool-top/) of the league is[nothing new to ardent Irons fans](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/erfolge/verein/379)who will remember with enthusiasm the halcyon days whereby West Ham’s new-found competitiveness with the elite was a foregone conclusion.

However, having [narrowly escaped the drop](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=274&ha=-1)last season, what this current group are achieving comes as [nothing short of a well-constructed miracle](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9307109/Joe-Cole-says-four-finish-West-Ham-one-biggest-achievements.html).

With another Sunday in lockdown and the Irons [missing out on the midweek action](https://www.premierleague.com/fixtures), we’ve set you a quiz to test your knowledge of that famous [1998/99 campaign](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=7&ha=-1) and the players who achieved the current benchmark.

Good luck and let us know your score on [social media](https://twitter.com/TheReadNetwork)…
