# Report: Burnley will demand £50m for West Ham target Nick Pope

[Burnley](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/26/michail-antonio-to-represent-jamaica-in-2022-world-cup-bid/) will demand a transfer fee in the region of £50million for West Ham target [Nick Pope](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/19/west-ham-interested-in-signing-nick-pope-in-summer/) according to a report from[Lancs Live](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/nick-pope-transfer-burnley-tottenham-19915025).

The Hammers have been credited[with an ‘admiration’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9291923/Tottenham-target-Nick-Pope-replace-Hugo-Lloris-leaves.html) of Pope recently along with London rivals Tottenham who see the 28-year-old goalkeeper as the [ideal replacement for Hugo Lloris](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/tottenham-transfer-news-burnleys-nick-pope-leads-list-of-potential-hugo-lloris-successors).

However, Burnley have acted early to stave off any potential suitors by slapping a [record-breaking price-tag](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transferrekorde/verein/379) on their stoppers head.

Not only would £50million break the Irons’ record transfer spend it would also [eclipse the record fee for a British goalkeeper](https://thefootballlovers.com/top-10-most-expensive-goalkeepers-in-the-world-ever/#:~:text=1.,transferred%20to%20Chelsea%20in%202018.), doubling the £25m Everton shelled out on Jordan Pickford.

That’s not to say the Lancashire club aren’t within their rights to hold the stopper in high esteem.

With an average [Sofascore rating of 7.16](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nick-pope/162653) from [24 Premier League outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nick-pope/leistungsdaten/spieler/192080), the [four-times capped England](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nick-pope/nationalmannschaft/spieler/192080/verein_id/3299) ace has been outstanding for Sean Dyche’s side.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

With Lukasz Fabianski’s[contract situation still unresolved](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9090329/David-Moyes-keen-sign-Lukasz-Fabianski-new-deal-reward-Declan-Rice-improved-terms.html), David Moyes could be on the lookout for a new stopper this summer.

Although the 34-year-old Pole [continues to perform](https://www.sofascore.com/player/lukasz-fabianski/15479) for the Hammers, at some stage in the near future the Irons [will need fresh blood in the department](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad), and there’s no doubt Pope would tick all the boxes.

However, at £50million and with [Burnley unlikely to get relegated](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) this term, this is a deal with slim prospects this summer.
