# Blackburn ‘braced’ for interest in West Ham target Adam Armstrong

Blackburn  are reportedly bracing themselves for summer interest in star striker [Adam Armstrong](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/24/west-ham-fans-tony-cottee-adam-armstrong-transfer-hint/), according to [Lancashire Live](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-rovers-armstrong-west-ham-19907661).

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/25/west-ham-fans-revel-in-pablo-fornal-reported-transfer-involvement-en-nesyri/)‘s interest in Armstrong has been [widely speculated](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/west-ham-plan-adam-armstrong-bid) and this report outlines expected January transfer offers which weren’t forthcoming.

However, despite Rovers being reluctant to part with [their talismanic frontman](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/barry-douglas-delivers-one-word-verdict-on-blackburn-rovers-talisman-adam-armstrong/), there is a thought process that a ‘considerable fee’ for the 24-year-old could help strengthen the squad as a whole.

Going on to specify the positions within the [Ewood Park club’s ranks](https://www.rovers.co.uk/teams/first-team/) in need of reinforcement over the summer, [Lancashire Live](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-rovers-armstrong-west-ham-19907661) claimed that should the ‘right offer’ come in for the [former Newcastle youngster](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-would-cash-adam-armstrong-19304918), a short-term loss could prove a long-term gain for Blackburn.

The Hammers explored other targets in January with [Youssef En-Nesyri seemingly the number one priority](https://talksport.com/football/821406/west-ham-signing-striker-youssef-en-nesyri/), but recent claims from Spain have suggested that Sevilla are [planning for a future](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2021/02/23/sevilla-fc-traza-plan-futuro/322160.html) with their Moroccan striker, so the Irons may have to look elsewhere.

Ivan Toney is another name on West Ham list of targets but the [24-goal ace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ivan-toney/leistungsdaten/spieler/251664)has set about [trying to earn Premier League football](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table) with Brentford.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

All roads point to Armstrong at this stage. With a [major hint coming from Tony Cottee](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/02/23/west-ham-adam-armstrong-transfer-hint/) this week, it would seem the Hammers might’ve earmarked their man for a summer swoop.

The [striker’s form this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/leistungsdaten/spieler/250426) has certainly earned him a shot at the big time and, if any manager can extract the [best out of a Championship talent](https://www.thesportsman.com/articles/history-shows-moyes-is-the-man-to-get-the-best-out-of-premier-league-newbie-bowen), it’s David Moyes.

What constitutes a ‘considerable’ fee remains the biggest question, though, especially as Blackburn previously slapped an [eye-watering £30m asking price](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-would-cash-adam-armstrong-19304918) on Armstrong.
