# West Ham face fresh competition for Bournemouth youngster Ajani Burchall

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/23/west-ham-fans-discuss-dean-henderson-transfer-links/) are said to be ‘monitoring’ the progress of Bournemouth teenager Ajani Burchall, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-race-arsenal-to-sign-bournemouth-wonderkid-burchall/), but could face increased competition for the starlet.

The [same outlet today reported](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-united-make-approach-for-burchall-after-he-rejects-new-contract/) of fresh interest from fellow Premier League side Leeds United, along with [long-standing admiration](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-race-arsenal-to-sign-bournemouth-wonderkid-burchall/) from Arsenal.

The 16-year-old [recently rejected the chance](https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/19103834.arsenal-reportedly-lead-transfer-chase-ajani-burchall/) to sign a scholarship with the Championship club, leading to increased speculation that his future may lie elsewhere.

Born in Bermuda, the forward – who operates [predominantly on the left wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ajani-burchall/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/844361/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=989&liga=&wettbewerb=GB2&pos=&trainer_id=) – made his [senior debut earlier this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ajani-burchall/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/844361/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=989&liga=&wettbewerb=GB2&pos=&trainer_id=) during Bournemouth’s 5-0 home victory over Huddersfield.

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-united-make-approach-for-burchall-after-he-rejects-new-contract/) claimed that Burchall is likely to leave Bournemouth at the end of this season amid plenty of interest.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing youngsters must become part of West Ham’s philosophy moving forward in order to ensure sustained success at the London Stadium.

Recently, [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/22/xg-map-proves-west-ham-efficiency-under-david-moyes/) has given opportunities to [academy graduates Ben Johnson](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/february/18-february/ben-johnson-weve-got-resilience-succeed) and [Ademipo Odubeko](https://metro.co.uk/2021/02/10/david-moyes-explains-decision-to-substitute-ademipo-odubeko-vs-man-utd-14054223/), perhaps showing the likes of Burchall a pathway to first team football with the Irons.

Having already made his [senior bow at such a tender age](https://www.afcb.co.uk/teams/under-18s/ajani-burchall/), there is clearly a bright prospect up for grabs and it would be an oversight from the Hammers if they weren’t in the queue for him.
