# Some West Ham fans disparage Declan Rice departure links

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/18/fabian-balbuena-plans-contract-renewal-talks-west-ham/) fans must now be accustomed to speculation linking [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/18/ian-mcgarry-liverpool-manchester-united-keen-on-declan-rice/) with a move away from east London.

Having seemingly [overcome constant reports](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/26/chelsea-interest-in-declan-rice-likely-to-end-with-frank-lampard-departure-west-ham) linking the 22-year-old with a return to Chelsea, this week the defensive midfielder is [said to have attracted the attention](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/man-utd-stall-on-solskj%C3%A6r-contract-man-city-reduce/id1254836234?i=1000509423132) of north-west giants Manchester United and Liverpool.

While Rice has [previously spoken of his desire](https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/declan-rice-wants-to-test-himself-with-european-football-37873153.html) to play in European competition, the Irons are currently on course to give him his wish as they sit fifth in the Premier League – [one place and two points](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) ahead of Liverpool.

With a precedent already set by way of an [asking price](https://metro.co.uk/2020/08/13/west-ham-set-asking-price-chelsea-sign-declan-rice-13126357/) and a determination to [hang onto their influential leader](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/apr/28/west-ham-determined-to-hold-on-to-declan-rice-amid-chelsea-interest), plenty of Hammers fans have reacted on social media to the fresh reports.

Unsurprisingly, many have issued their own compelling hands-off warnings regarding the West Ham “king”, although there was one exception to the wider feeling, as you’ll see from the Twitter reaction below:

> Why do United fans all of a sudden think they’re getting rice 😂😂😂
