# Report: West Ham still interested in Ahmed Musa

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/15/west-ham-predicted-xi-sheffield-united-home/) are said to remain interested in signing free agent [Ahmed Musa](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/08/west-ham-target-ahmed-musa-could-still-be-available/) according to a report from[90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/newcastle-offered-chance-sign-daniel-sturridge-exclusive).

The report which outlines a host of Premier League interest in another free agent striker, Daniel Sturridge, goes on to claim the Hammers remain in contention to snap up Musa who has been without a club [after leaving Saudi side Al-Nassr](https://www.premiumtimesng.com/sports/football/423111-ahmed-musa-leaves-saudi-club.html) in October.

After failing to secure what looked like an [inevitable move to West Brom](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sam-allardyce-explains-west-brom-19824713) recently, the 28-year-old who has earned[87 caps for Nigeria](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-musa/nationalmannschaft/spieler/168337/verein_id/3444)is still available for a free transfer.

Once the [club-record signing for Leicester City](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36747438), things haven’t worked out as planned for the [pacey frontman](https://www.espn.com/soccer/leicester-city/story/2925391/leicester-city-forward-ahmed-musa-will-cause-havoc-with-pace-schmeichel) although, with Southampton and Newcastle both showing an interest alongside the Hammers, a second chance could be forthcoming.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Previously Irons fans may have baulked at signing a striker who [struggled in the Premier League](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/ahmed-musa-leicester-city-transfer-1860592)and hasn’t played competitively since a stint in the Middle East.

However, with Michail Antonio, unfortunately, proving to be his [unreliable self](https://www.claretandhugh.info/antonio-set-to-face-late-test/) in terms of prolonged availability and youngster Ademipo Odubeko[flattering to deceive](https://metro.co.uk/2021/02/10/david-moyes-explains-decision-to-substitute-ademipo-odubeko-vs-man-utd-14054223/), West Ham may have to act.

Capable of operating both [through the middle and out wide](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-musa/profil/spieler/168337), Musa does provide Moyes with additional options and at 28 the Nigerian could hardly be considered over the hill.

As a short term measure on the face of things, the Irons have got little to lose by making a move for Musa.
