# West Ham target Adam Armstrong’s value could ‘rapidly decrease’

Reported [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/12/manchester-united-keeping-tabs-on-tomas-soucek/) target [Adam Armstong](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/11/gabriel-agbonlahor-says-adam-armstrong-perfect-signing-west-ham/) could see a ‘rapid decrease’ in value in the near future should the 23-year-old not sign an extended contract before the end of the season, according to the [Lancashire Telegraph](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19082267.player-contracts-becoming-very-pressing-issue-rovers/)‘s Rich Sharpe.

Described as a ‘pressing issue’ for the forward’s club Blackburn Rovers, Sharpe outlined the potential for [Premier League sides to swoop](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-armstrong-transfer-interest-19583940) for relatively cheap should Armstrong not sign a new deal.

With [17 Championship goals this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/leistungsdaten/spieler/250426), the former Newcastle youngster has been a sensation, and the Hammers were believed to [have enquired](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19053246.mowbray-lack-interest-rovers-star-adam-armstrong/)over his availability in January. However, the [Lancashire Telegraph](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19082267.player-contracts-becoming-very-pressing-issue-rovers/) reported that, should the Ewood Park club wish to retain top value for their ‘prized asset’, they will have to tie him down soon.

Rovers have previously set a [premium asking price](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-rovers-armstrong-waggott-newcastle-19304432) for the striker to deter admirers, but with his [contract expiring in 2022](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/profil/spieler/250426), the promotion chasers are running out of time to receive an optimum fee.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

With the [need for a striker evident](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) for all to see this summer, signing Armstrong on the cheap would be a deal right up West Ham’s street.

Having previously been cited an asking price of [upwards of £30m](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-armstrong-west-ham-moyes-19590662) for Armstrong, the Irons may have been reluctant to splash out that much on a striker [without a single top-flight goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/250426).

A deal more in the region of his [Transfermarkt value of £9m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/marktwertverlauf/spieler/250426) would be far more palatable to West Ham.
