# West Ham lose out on Rangers youngster Nathan Young-Coombes

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/12/west-ham-to-rival-premier-league-clubs-for-mikkel-damsgaard/) are set to miss out on the capture of highly-rated Rangers teenager Nathan Young-Coombes, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-failed-in-move-to-sign-rangers-starlet/).

The former [Chelsea and Crystal Palace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-young-coombes/profil/spieler/581679) youth player is instead set to complete a move to west London to join Championship club Brentford.

Young-Coombes [left Stamford Bridge for Ibrox](https://twitter.com/RFC_Youth/status/1091267445892046850) in February 2019, at which time he was [also on the Hammers’ radar](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-failed-in-move-to-sign-rangers-starlet/). It looks as though the club will miss out again, with [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-failed-in-move-to-sign-rangers-starlet/) claiming that the 19-year-old has opted to join the Bees when his [contract expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-young-coombes/profil/spieler/581679) in the summer.

Brentford, who [operate a B team](https://www.brentfordfc.com/teams/brentford-b/) with whom the talented forward will initially join up, are expected to pay around [£100,000 in compensation](https://www.footballinsider247.com/young-coombes-set-to-join-brentford-from-rangers-in-june/) to the runaway Scottish Premiership leaders.

Capped twice by [England at under-15 level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-young-coombes/nationalmannschaft/spieler/581679/verein_id/23260), Young-Coombes has made a big impression for Rangers in the UEFA Youth League, scoring [four times in just five outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-young-coombes/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/581679/saison/2019/wettbewerb/19YL/verein/76795).

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

West Ham and Brentford just can’t leave each other alone in the transfer market recently, with both [Said Benrahma](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54578415) and [Winston Reid](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/01/winston-reid-joins-brentford-on-loan/) making cross-capital moves in either direction in the last few months.

Brentford’s [Winston Reid](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/01/winston-reid-joins-brentford-on-loan/) has produced a rich production line of [Premier League-ready players](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/01/winston-reid-joins-brentford-on-loan/) of late, and the Irons will likely continue to keep one eye on Young-Coombes’ development despite missing out on him for the second time in as many years.
