# West Ham fans react to injury update on Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/12/west-ham-lose-out-nathan-young-coombes-transfer-news/) have provided an update on defensive duo [Angelo Ogbonna](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/30/west-ham-fans-pile-yet-more-praise-on-angelo-ogbonna/) and [Issa Diop](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/02/liverpool-enquired-for-issa-diop-transfer-interest-rebuffed/) ahead of Monday night’s clash with Sheffield United on the [club’s official website](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/february/12-february/west-ham-united-issue-issa-diop-and-angelo-ogbonna-update) and [Twitter channel](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1360207412284829697).

Diop will likely be cleared to play after the French defender was [forced off with concussion at half-time](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/10/diop-incident-shows-new-concussion-rules-deeply-flawed-brain-charity-says-headway) during the Hammers’ FA Cup defeat against Manchester United on Tuesday night. However, the prognosis for Ogbonna is bleaker as the experienced Italian [underwent a scan on his ankle](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/players/west-ham-latest-injury-news-19249373) and will spend a period in a protective boot to aid his recovery.

The loss of Ogbonna will come as a major blow for David Moyes, who has called upon the 34-year-old [more than any of his other centre-backs](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/29/Show/England-West-Ham) this season.
