# West Ham and Brentford fans debate Irons’ links with Ivan Toney

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/11/west-ham-fans-ex-whu-employee-reluctant-transfer-stance-claim/) could make a summer swoop for prolific Championship striker [Ivan Toney](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/10/ivan-toney-intriguing-transfer-option-west-ham/) according to a report from [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/lautaro-s-new-deal-pushes-city-towards-erling-haaland-son-to-sign-in-summer-transfer-noteboo_sto8111278/story.shtml).

Naturally, plenty of Hammers fans, as well as a selection of detracting Brentford supporters, have been discussing the potential deal.

The 24-year-old has been masterly in front of goal this season and [leads the way](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/top-scorers) in the Championship scoring charts with 22, five ahead of his nearest rival Adam Armstong, who has also been [linked with the Irons](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19072305.mowbray-re-iterates-armstrong-message-amid-west-ham-links/).

However, with claims that the west Londoners would be looking for a [minimum of £20m](https://twitter.com/WHUFCFZ/status/1359509213966401547) for the predator who has fired them to the [top of the Championship table](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table), both sets of fans have their reservations over this transfer rumour.

Here’s a pick of the reactions from [Twitter](https://twitter.com/westham_hub/status/1359511429485912064) from dissenting Irons and Brentford fans, with some hailing Toney as “Premier League quality”…
